Common Questions
Is lithium a drop-in replacement for my lead battery?
For the direct-fit lines, yes. XV Series and TITAN8 Direct Fit are built to BCI group sizes and land in the factory tray with the stock hold-down and cables. TITAN8 modules are the other path, where the bank is sized and mounted to the build.
Do I need a different charger?
Lithium wants a lithium charge profile. Our chargers are matched by voltage, and 14V and 16V packs require the matching charger — a standard 12V unit will not bring them to full charge.
What does the BMS actually do?
It watches each cell for voltage, current and temperature, balances the pack during charge, and disconnects before the pack can be damaged by over-discharge, over-charge or a short.
How cold can it go?
Lithium discharges well below freezing but should not be charged below freezing. If the vehicle lives outside in winter, that is the specification to check first, and it is the case where AGM is often the simpler answer.
When should I choose TITAN8 over a direct-fit battery?
When you need more capacity than a single case can hold, or the space you have is not a battery-shaped hole. Modules let you build the bank around the vehicle instead of the other way around.
